I’m a patternmaker working in Melbourne, Australia. I studied Mechanical Engineering and Science at university, but when it came to getting a job in these fields, nothing seemed as exciting as designing and making clothes with my own hands.
The technical background stands me in good stead now. I use a CAD system every day (Grafis, check it out, its the bee’s knees!), and where I work (Integral-T) we really approach fitting the body as an engineering design problem.
